Realistic Goals

A healthy Marketing Plan starts with realistic Goals. Back in the 60s / 70s. Suva was ripe for the entrepreneur's picking. My late Father Choy Wong started a small company in a Van delivering Toilet Paper and other little things to the Sailors that would come off the wharf.

My mother told me that the struggle back then wasn't what it is now. Yes, you had to work hard but there wasn't much competition.
Within a year my father made his first million. I picked up at an early age the art of marketing and doing business. Even while running around our Walu Bay Office I was aware of how things were being done. What I would notice was not the money, not the product but the plans.
The saying is true, to make money you must first spend it. So when thinking of a Marketing Plan be specific with your Goals, how much would you want to be making in 6 months? a Year? Have a step by step process. Think Deeply about the words, contacts, marketing avenues you would use. And be realistic. If you think you will be making a loss the first year simply because you are going on an aggressive marketing campaign balance it out.
Do not start hiring 10 people just because in the first month you made 10,000. Do not rely solely on what you learnt in business school.
And remember whatever you know, no matter how many years of experience you have... None of that matters when it comes to Marketing. It helps yes, but in the end it is about finding out what your customers want and creating a need for you to be able to supply.
Have a prosperous week!
